Assessment of ways of working and optimal cross-functional collaboration for delivery of the JCA
Bespoke support programme to define optimal ways of working and cross-functional collaboration for implementation of the JCA
Context
The Challenge
- The global market access/HEOR team in a medium-size pharmaceutical company was aware of the likely requirement for oncology pipeline assets to undergo JCA evaluation (within 3-5 years)
- Under the leadership of global market access/HEOR functions, the company required an understanding of the required adjustments to internal ways of working and team structures/processes to ensure effective planning for JCA implementation
Requirements
Project Objectives
- Elicit detailed feedback from across global and European affiliate functions regarding their understanding of the JCA requirements, predicted implications for ways of working and perceived optimal approach to ensure company readiness for JCA implementation
- Provide recommendations on the optimal processes/resources and team structure/responsibilities to ensure successful preparation and implementation of the JCA (including aligning regulatory and HEOR/market access activities)
Methodology
Our Approach
- We undertook in-depth discussions with key global team members covering regulatory, medical, commercial, HEOR, value & access and key European affiliates (Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, Italy)
- Insights were collated from internal discussions and Lightning Health experience regarding the process/timelines and requirements for JCA implementation to inform detailed recommendations on the optimal approach for cross-functional working (including roles/responsibilities, timelines and internal/external support)
Outcomes
Value Delivered
- The global team received a detailed review of the recommended process/resources required for successful planning and implementation of the JCA in line with the launch timelines for priority oncology assets
- The recommended approach was directly in line with the existing organisational structure, resources and capabilities within the team (with analysis of likely requirements for external support)
- European affiliate engagement throughout the process ensured their ‘buy in’ to the process and future collaboration throughout the implementation
